Rescue and EMS 59 run vehicle rollover
At 1900hrs, Rescue 59 and Ambulance 59-9 responded to Exit 5 of the Casey Industrial Highway in Mayfield for a vehicle roll-over. Company 59 arrived to find a single vehicle in the median that had lost control and rolled a single time landing on its wheels. All occupants had removed themselves from the vehicle prior to the arrival of company 59. EMS received patient. refusals and units cleared in approx 15 mins.  Rescue 59 received from staffing help from Lancaster County with Station 2-4’s Capt Howey riding along  to provide assistance, always a pleasure have him come for the ride, although he usually only catches Mutli- alarm commercial jobs.

Local firefighters gain certifications

Rescue 59 runs trailer fire
7-3-05, around 2 a.m. Sunday morning Rescue 59 responded to assist station 21 on a working trailer fire. R59 responded in seconds and was the first unit on scene. Flames were shooting out windows side A, C and D of the structure. 
There were multiple exposures: an oil drum, other trailers, and vehicles. R59 went right to work by pulling an 1 ¾’’ attack line. A quick knock down was accomplished with the help of incoming units. The fire was contained to just the trailer. One of the occupants of the trailer suffered some minor burns but refused transport. Rescue 59 cleared the scene in about an hour and a half. 

59 Volunteers off to busy start in July
On Friday July 1st, the 59 volunteers responded to 8 emergencies in a 12 hour period, making it the busiest day so far in 2005. The day started when 59-9 was dispatched to assist 58 P.D. After clearing 59-9 handled a bls call in Mayfield while 59-8 was on scene of a bls call in Jermyn. While both rigs were on calls, station 59 was alerted of another als call in the borough. Rescue 59, as the quick response vehicle, along with Cottage als handled the call. As 59-9 went back into service after transporting a patient they were then sent once again to Jermyn with cottage als. In the afternoon 59-9 was dispatched to assisted 21 ems for an m.v.a. with multiple patients. The day ended when Rescue 59 and Ambulance 59-9 were sent to a two car mva on Rushbrook Street in Jermyn.

Rescue 59 responds to Church Street blaze
On 6-26-05 Rescue 59 was dispatched to assist to station 51 (City of Carbondale) for a working structure fire with possible entrapment. Within seconds rescue 59 was on the road with a crew of six. (Members were at the station participating in rope rescue exercises)  While en-route the rescue received reports from Command 51 that all occupants had been evacuated and also heavy fire on division 3. Rescue 59 marked on scene and went into operation. Crews from Rescue 59 were assigned multiple tasks by command 51. A crew  was designated to backup the initial 51 interior attack line, while a crew of  5 were assigned RIT operations, also two 59 personnel assisted ladder 58’s crew with vertical ventilation on the three story building.
59 EMS was requested by 51 EMS command to setup a firefighter rehab area. 

Under the direction of 51 Rehab command, two rehab tents along with rehab chairs and a mister fan were set- up and utilized. The 59 Rehab crew with the along with 51 EMS personnel successfully rehabbed over 30 firefighters. The fire had been contained to only two rooms in the entire building, which also houses the Carbondale Chapter of the Red Cross.

59 Rescue pulls a transfer 
With companies from a four county area battling a fire in the vacant "Poor Farm", located just off Route 106 in  Greenfield Township on Thursday, June 23, Rescue 59 transferred to Station 24 while they battled the suspicious fire  in the century old landmark.

Units from 59 assist 51 on commercial assignment
Units were dispatched for an assist to Lackawanna County Station 51 for a working commercial fire. Ambulance 59-9 and Rescue 59 were first due units on second alarm  to the City of Carbondale on Saturday, May 21.
Upon arrival of 59-9 crews assisted 51 ems with Triage of evacuated residents from assisted living center which was #1 exposure on side “bravo” of fire building. Rescue 59 then marked on scene and went right into operation, per command crew from rescue was to complete primary search of high rise building. 
Crews were faced with heavy smoke and high heat inside the building. Rescue 59’s chauffeur then established a water supply which was later picked up by Engine Co. 59 who need to draft from the nearby Lackawanna river, and supplied water to the high- rise’s sprinkler system and stand- pipe once the search proved negative a second crew from the rescue completed a secondary search with a master key searching thoroughly every room in the building. Once  triage  of all patients was complete 59-9’s crew assisted 51 ems command with firefighter re-hab. In total five separate crews were operating on scene from the 59 house  performing tasks such as re-hab, triage, searches, operating hand-lines, and R.I.T. team along with  crews from Wayne County Engine 43. After the fire was under control  Rescue 59 remained on scene to assist with lighting the scene. Units were on scene for over 10 hours.
